There are so many amazing people – and so many things to admire.
Every day I notice them.
When I’m traveling, I’m noticing the senior citizen women. Showing up with their friends and spouses in practical and adorable outfits (with smart shoes!) – everytime I adventure travel I set a new packing goal based on people I admired from my last trip.
I do something similar with professional conferences I attend.
When I’m working out, I am noticing people able to do all the things I somehow find impossible. Showing up on the regular being their badass selves.
When I’m reading newsletters and newsfeeds I am noticing people accomplishing great milestones personally and professionally and being generous and gracious with their privilege while celebrating their own achievements.
When I reading books and podcasts I’m admiring creators who manage to get smart on topics I am curious about and eager to share what they have learned.
Every day I notice people showing up for their families, friends, neighbors, doing the hard care work and practicing acts of kindness.
People who offer the much needed hug when they observe someone needing a good cry.
People who offer tips to others to make their lives easier or better.
There are things happening every day that I admire, from people who probably aren’t even aware I’ve noticed and likely have no idea who I am.
But here is the thing – over the past few years I’ve been making a real choice to shift from noticing to speaking. I’m giving out random compliments and high fives like they are free and readily available. I’m am recognizing and showing up with the power we all have to elevate each other and make the world a better place.
I am owning my responsibility to admire out loud and I invite you to join me on this journey.
