Lurkers Welcome

In talking to people about social media, I often find people feeling stressed that they have nothing to say.

You should note, the number of people who lurk is significantly higher than the number of people who participate or contribute. Lurking is not an exception, it’s the rule.

Lurking is one of the first steps to understanding social media.  Watching and learning from the participation of others, helps you have a better sense of what is available and what might work for you.

So go ahead, lurk. Watch others and laugh. That’s an important part of the process. If you find something that engages your interest, consider adding a comment.

Comments are what turn blogging and tweeting from a soapbox to a conversation, and it’s the conversation that provides the most value.
